The following welcome response to the NITC letter was emailed to schools on Friday 27 October 2017:
SENT ON BEHALF OF EUGENE O’NEILL, DIRECTOR OF WORKFORCE PLANNING AND GOVERNANCE
Dear Principal
We have received a number of enquiries in relation to payment for substitute teachers and the exceptional closures on Monday 16 October 2017 and Tuesday 17 October 2017.
I can confirm that a substitute teacher who was scheduled to work in a school on Monday 16 and/or Tuesday 17 October 2017 and were booked out through NISTR should receive payment for these days.
The Department of Education (DE) has been advised of this situation however please note that for payment processing purposes the DE Payroll deadline date is Friday 3 November 2017.
Regards
